Artworks that focuses on natural materials and processes

Detail of “Roots,” performance piece by Nicole Domoe

Growth

Growth is a ceramic body of work that represents the embracing of imperfections within oneself and others. Change can bring people together to embrace and accept but also push people apart in dysfunctionality. Plant motifs, altered forms, and balance within chaos are commonalities between the pieces.

  • "Roots" is an ephermeral display that continues its performance along the same timeline as the course of nature

  • it is a performace act that serves as a display of gratitude for the natural world

  • the piece leaves us in the sun, installing an appreciation for the outdoors

  • participants leave fingerprints in biodegradable materials, creating a sense of identity, connection, and teamwork

Fluidity

Fluidity of form on the object itself but also fluidity of purpose. Objects that can be used in more than one manner and that hold significance, purpose, integrity and thought. Focus on the natural clay body and materials of the glaze, as well as the natural chemical process of creating with materials from the earth that are used in tangent with natural elements such as water and plants.
